I have to say it is MUCH more creepy doing genderswapped designs for characters who have actual, physical human beings who portray them.
I have so many thoughts and ideas about these two, but for now I’ll just leave it at Shirlock Holmes and Doctor Joan Watson.
Shirlock because it visually recalls the name Shirley and gives it juuuust enough femininity, while still working within the plot confines of I AM SHERLOCKED. Sherlock is a weird made up name as it is, it isn’t really a stretch to transform it into a woman’s name.
Joan because it’s the most audibly similar name to John. Jane is the most similar in social terms (Jane Doe, John Doe) but it definitely doesn’t sound the same.
Important note: Shirlock would never ever wear heels or skirts, have you suddenly had to sprint in pumps or a pencil skirt? Climb ladders? Jump over car hoods? Scaled fences? Hop around rooftops? dug through bins without worrying about getting a run? skulked around without announcing your presence via loud ass clicking? Nope. NOPE. I’ve done most of those things and it is NOT shit you want to try and pull off while wearing something other than trousers and flat shoes.
Riding boots and form fitting pants, all the way. Stylish, feminine, classy and practical enough to pass.
PS: Joan would totally be played by Joanne Froggatt
